There's a yacht that arrived a couple of days ago, and is now moored in Port Vila harbour. They just got fined around USD5,000. (!)
It's a classic story of what can go wrong when you don't have local knowledge. None of the 3 people on the yacht actually tested positive for COVID-1984, and it would have been so easy just to notify the proper authorities as they should have.
But they didn't.
And they got whacked.
According to the local rag, the Sea Port Task Force Vice Chairman has explained that the fine is their penalty for breaching COVID-19 protocols, their failure to notify the border agency officials from their last port of call of their issue, and failure to request approval of their entry into Port Vila Harbour on Sunday.
How about that?!?
For the lack of a few simple bits of paperwork they got slugged with this fine.
THIS is why my clients for purchased citizenship like my service. I live here. I have the "local knowledge," including recent updates to laws and protocols. I make sure my clients paperwork is submitted with all the "t's" and "i's" sorted properly.
So when you are ready to free yourself with a second (or third etc) citizenship and passport...
